King Willem-Alexander to officially open Scannexus facility and the Brains Unlimited complex

27th September 2013

On Tuesday 29 October 2013, His Majesty the King will be guest of honour for the official opening of the Brains Unlimited complex – including the Scannexus scannerlab (click here to read the news article on the Royal House webpage).

Brains Unlimited, located at the Maastricht Health Campus, is the place where researchers, clinicians, and entrepreneurs, under one roof, bring research from concept to commercialisation.  Providing an integrated platform for the imaging community, Brains Unlimited helps scientists and companies to find the key to many common disorders, as well as gain more insight into the development of human behaviour.  It provides a unique, integrated platform that combines state-of-the art technology with clinical know-how (and access to patients) and internationally renowned expertise in post-acquisition processing of data in relation to ultra-high field human MRI.

Scannexus is the vehicle for the management of this facility, as well as providing the interface for the development and delivery of projects utilising the scanner facility and elements carried out within clinical and academic partners.  We operate an open access infrastructure that includes 3T, 7T and 9.4T human (whole body) MRI scanners - opening up huge opportunities in advancing our understanding of human anatomy, functionality and metabolism.  We provide dedicated research technologists and a network of scientific, clinical and application expertise (via local (Netherlands, Belgium, and Germany) universities, research institutes and hospitals).  More details can be found on our website.
